Words I associate with dieting – bland, annoying, mundane and unsuccessful. As I speak these words, I know that I am one-in-a-million women trying to diet post-holiday sugar high, looking to regain their figure and prove a New Year’s resolution or prepare for the “itty bitty polka dot bikini” – thanks Yoplait.
More than a diet, the 15 day cleanse/diet I am just now completing has left me wanting MORE, yes, even though I detest the thought of more chicken and vegetables. Up until about two years ago, I could not even imagine enjoying bell peppers, but here I am eating them like a champ.
As you follow this blog, not only am I keeping myself accountable for my new dieting habits and goal of a size ___…well I can’t tell you…but I will also be encouraging readers with dieting advice, tips, tricks and thoughtful remarks as we all strive to become physically fit.
Let’s lay down the beats with what I have learned to be the most beneficial advice I can give to those starting out. I mean you could buy a book about this, and I’m not an expert - but it’s free knowledge from someone doing it themselves. Think of this as a buddy system:)
1. Make it a habit – once you have gotten a twice a day 30 min workout down it becomes almost as easy as eating breakfast.
2. Water, water and only water – By drinking a gallon of water a day, your body adapts to its refreshing taste. Other drinks shouldn’t be substituted , and those of you enjoying an evening cocktail – don’t get upset but try going without, as alcohol contains many sugars and beer only bloats your body:( Sad..I know.
3. Small meals ever 3 hours.
4. Proteins (chicken/turkey), veggies, fruits.
5. NO dairy products/wheats.
6. NO eating past 8 p.m.
7. Develop a rewards system – one indulgent meal on the weekends or popcorn and M&Ms at the movies.
8. Finally, tell yourself…"Nothing feels as good as skinny.”
So, here we are, Day 1.
Let’s get this going. See you on the thin side!
